The Studentenwerk Hannover makes student life in Hannover easier and more pleasant. Along with providing refectories, cafeterias and hostels, this students service concentrates on wide-ranging advice services and financing courses of study. The social advice service helps with insurance, housing allowance, unemployment benefit/welfare, discounts for students, studying with a child and many other issues, advises foreign and disabled students and refers clients to other advice agencies and sources of support. The Studentenwerk is also responsible for advice on and granting of ‘BAföG’ subsidies for students.
